Advanced Energy's SystemVision program demonstrates 15 percent more energy savings over code-built homes

Advanced Energy, a resource for innovative and market-based approaches to energy issues, announced its SystemVision program is proven to save 15 percent more in energy use and costs than standard code-built homes. The study compared 12 months of energy usage data in central North Carolina homes that were less than five years old. While a typical 1,700-square-foot house used approximately 17,056 kWh of energy with total costs of $1,431 yearly, the homes built to SystemVision standards used approximately 14,579 kWh of energy with total costs of $1,223, a savings of more than $200.

Local nonprofit builds 1,000th house for low income families in North Carolina

Advanced Energy, a Raleigh-based nonprofit, recently completed its 1,000th house for North Carolina’s affordable housing market. Built in collaboration with the N.C. Housing Finance Agency and developer Wilson Community Improvement Association, the house was built using energy-efficient techniques and technologies, making the home even more affordable. All 1,000 homes were built to Advanced Energy’s SystemVision program requirements. This means the homes were built to specifications that go beyond N.C. building code requirements, and they are more healthy, durable, safe, energy-efficient and comfortable.

Affordable housing in North Carolina built better than code requires

Working with affordable housing developers through our SystemVision program, 750 homes have been built in 32 North Carolina counties through October 2005. More Energy Star homes have been built in North Carolina through this program than any other energy efficiency program.

Mold and Moisture Workshop

This one-day workshop gives housing professionals the latest information and decision tools they need to address mold and moisture problems. Mold and other moisture-related contaminants are increasingly identified by the medical community, news media and courts of law as a serious health threat. Further, uncontrolled moisture is the number one cause of residential building failure. Avoiding problems in multi-family housing is particularly challenging because of detection, maintenance and liability realities. Call (919) 857-9000 to schedule your customized training.
