RECOGNITION Member, Habitat for Humanity International Sustainable Building Advisory Board ACCOMPLISHMENTS Brian Coble joined Advanced Energy’s Applied Building Science team in 2001. He currently manages three of the team’s primary business units: affordable housing, existing homes and market rate construction. He creates programs, trainings and consulting services that integrate building science techniques into homes. As a leading building scientist, he provides training and consultation services to developers, builders, architects and subcontractors on energy efficiency and building science techniques nationwide. Coble entered the construction industry in 1992 as a plumber in new residential construction. He also worked for Corlett, Skaer and DeVotto Architects Inc., providing sound mitigation in homes surrounding the San Francisco and San Jose airports. He performed home assessments, developed bid documents and managed contractors. MY PHILOSOPHY ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY With energy consumption on the rise, energy efficiency will have to be directly tied to tangible benefits in order to achieve any lasting, positive change. For example, in residential construction, energy-efficiency efforts should also provide improvements to the health, safety, durability, comfort and affordability of a home. While this example is specific to the homes we live in, the idea behind it can be applied to the industry as well.
