Jonathan Coulter
Certification, RESNET Quality Assurance Designee ACCOMPLISHMENTS Jonathan Coulter joined Advanced Energy’s Applied Building Science team in 2004 as a building science associate. He conducts residential building diagnostic testing nationwide, providing training and consulting services to builders and building trades. Coulter provides technical support for applied research on residential construction products and best practice processes. Most recently, he presented two papers at Indoor Air 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark entitled “Measured public benefits of energy-efficient homes” and “High performance intervention houses in North Carolina – an attempt to control indoor relative humidity at 50 percent year round.” Coulter is also a RESNET approved quality assurance designee, overseeing compliance with the ENERGY STAR® new construction program. He offers technical support for program standards, computer modeling and field testing protocols. He also works with partner organizations on various existing homes retrofit programs, providing field trainings and quality assurance assistance to contractors. Before joining Advanced Energy, Coulter worked as a carpenter for ACE Contracting Inc. in Charlottesville, Va. where he worked in custom home construction and the repair and renovation of existing homes. Coulter also worked for the Farm and Wilderness Foundation in Plymouth, Vt. There he promoted and expanded the education of alternative energy sources such as biodiesel, electric vehicles, solar water heating and photovoltaic systems while maintaining the operations of six water systems and rented and owned vehicles.
