Single Family Housing Made Possible by the N.C. Housing Finance Agency After working for decades with builders, manufacturers and utilities across the nation, our building science specialists helped develop a North Carolina initiative designed to bring their knowledge and experience to a deserving, but often underserved, local population. Launched in 2001 and aptly known as SystemVision, the mission of Advanced Energy’s Affordable Housing Program is to provide the training and technical support that leads to improved health, safety, durability, comfort and energy efficiency of affordable homes. Putting Building Science in Motion Nonprofits developing low and moderate-income housing within the state are eligible to start building with SystemVision as soon as they decide that they want the best for their homeowners. Thanks to the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, Advanced Energy’s partner in SystemVision, funding is available to these nonprofit organizations to help defray the costs often associated with building high performance homes. Advanced Energy provides ongoing support throughout the design, construction and marketing processes of SystemVision homes as well as a guaranteed amount for each of these home’s heating and cooling energy and a comfort guarantee. Backed by Advanced Energy's Own Guarantees All homes in North Carolina’s SystemVision program carry a heating and cooling energy guarantee. These house plan-specific guarantees generally range from $16 to $40 per month, with most falling between $25 and $30. If a home exceeds its guaranteed usage at the end of the year, Advanced Energy pays the difference to the homeowner. SystemVision homes also carry an Advanced Energy comfort guarantee to ensure that these homes are not only financially affordable to purchase and live in, but comfortable and enjoyable too. SystemVision homes are also certified through Energy Star™, a program administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency [EPA]. In North Carolina, both Progress Energy and Duke Energy customers living in Energy Star™ homes qualify for discounted utility rates. Our program is based on finding practical solutions to aid non-profit developers in the design, construction and marketing of homes. We provide our services in an effort to develop creative ways to bring maximum benefit to the homeowner. These services include:
