Touchstone Energy Home Program Touchstone Energy® is an alliance of more than 600 consumer-owned utilities in 44 states that deliver service to nearly 17 million customers. The alliance sets and achieves high standards for service. In fact, they scored nine points higher than the average electric utility on a first quarter 2003 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey. Touchstone Energy cooperatives serve their members with integrity, accountability, innovation, and a longstanding commitment to communities. That's why the Touchstone Energy Home - a residential energy efficiency and comfort program for new, existing, and manufactured homes - came into being. Homes that are given this certification are recognized as having a valued brand, which often helps them command a higher sale/resale value. Residents of these homes enjoy energy savings as well as enhanced comfort. Naturally, the standards created for the Touchstone Energy Home must vary according to whether the home is new, existing, or manufactured. And they have also been tailored to regional environmental conditions. Standards are stringent, and cover many factors such as wall, attic, and floor insulation; attic ventilation; windows and doors; infiltration control; heat pump sizing; water heating; bath and kitchen exhaust systems; interior vapor seals; exterior house wrap; and duct locations. The Touchstone Energy Home program is just one more way that Touchstone Energy cooperatives have found to work hand-in-hand with community residents and builders.
