Specifically, Maurer works with commercial and institutional markets including K-12 schools, colleges and universities as well as towns and municipalities, helping reduce their energy consumption and cost. Before joining the Advanced Energy team, Maurer served as the Energy Conservation Coordinator at North Carolina State University (NCSU) where she helped reduce campus energy and water consumption. She also spent four years as a research assistant at the North Carolina Solar Center, applying her technical knowledge to develop renewable energy applications and promote energy awareness. MY PHILOSOPHY ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY One of my professors once said that energy efficiency is a lunch that you are paid to eat. I believe this to be true. I work in energy efficiency because I think it is a field that creates win-win situations when common sense measures are implemented. On a personal level, I think it is each person’s responsibility to manage his or her own use of natural resources. This not only improves the environment, but also furthers socioeconomic balance both locally and globally.
