Experienced CP&L Staffer Joins Advanced Energy Member Services TeamAugust 2, 2000Bringing 22 years of broad-ranging experience at Carolina Power and Light, Carl Wilkins has joined the Advanced Energy member services team as account manager for Duke Power. With an extensive background in customer relations, planning, and technical support, Carl is looking forward to helping grow Advanced Energy's relationship with Duke Power as we move into the new century. Having served at CP&L in a variety of managerial, supervisory, and research and analysis roles, Carl brings a wealth of knowledge and ability to his new role as utility member account manager for Advanced Energy. Combining experience in sales, marketing, and project management with applied technical skills, he brings a wide array of talents to the member services team. Wilkins served most recently at CP&L as manager of national commercial accounts, including national chains, military, federal and state government accounts. While in this position, he was responsible for account maintenance, business development, electrical service coordination, and technical support. Previous positions with CP&L include supervisor of Raleigh division marketing, senior analyst for distribution automation R&D, and senior analyst for the customer support department. As well as having direct customer contact experience with commercial and industrial consumers, Carl carries with him an insider understanding of utility concerns. "Utilities must strike a balance between customers, regulators, and investors in terms of providing appropriate services," says Carl. "Addressing these kinds of concerns for Duke Power will be a large part of my job here at Advanced Energy." Bringing his utility insider perspective to the task of managing the delivery of member services to Duke Power, Wilkins is focused on growing this relationship and on providing them with innovative strategic support and product development services. Acting as a conduit between Duke's executive and management teams and Advanced Energy staff, he will oversee the supply of appropriate technical and marketing services to Duke and its customers. In addition to facilitating the delivery of Advanced Energy services to the Duke Power team, Carl will take the initiative to identify changing market needs and help Duke develop new market strategies. "As Duke Power grows and changes the way they do business, we at Advanced Energy want to adapt to those changes," says Carl. "By providing key technical support, product development, and other related services to increase their productivity and effectiveness in the marketplace, we'll be there to help them achieve their goals."
