ABS Crew Heads to Massachusetts for Summer Camp!
August 18, 2000
Three members of Advanced Energy's building science team recently ventured to Westford, Massachusetts for Building Science Corporation's Fourth Annual Summer Camp on Building Science. In addition to soaking up some tangy bits of tantalizing knowledge from the featured guest speakers, our guys were treated to a dazzling display of secret sauce and barbecue wizardry!
Keith Aldridge and John Tooley of Advanced Energy all attended this year's Westford Symposium on Building Science, put on by Building Science Corporation . Featured speakers at the three-day event included Professor John Timusk, speaking on the physics of building science, Chris Makepeace on building envelope performance, Mac Pearce on mold, and Terry Brennan on pest control.
Our crew found their experience at this year's camp to be a veritable feast of knowledge.
"The information provided on mold and pest control specific to the Southern climates we do much of our work in was invaluable," says Tooley, senior building science consultant for Advanced Energy.
The camp offered more than nourishment for the mind, however-Randy Luthor, displaced Tarheel state resident and vice-president of technology for Centex Corporation , was on hand cooking up his world-famous, secret Heinz ketchup barbecue rib recipe at the weekend warm-up festivities at the home of BSC principal Joe Lstiburek. Certainly a highlight of a weekend full of fun, Randy's rip-roaring ribs were enjoyed by all!
Randy also instigated the installation of a horseshoe pit for some additional extracurricular entertainment. But, in the words of our own John Tooley, " . . . the competition was overrated."
Sounds like fighting words! Tune in next year, as the saga continues . . .
