Advanced Energy Aids Motor Manufacturers Around the Globe

November 11, 2000

photoAs the June 7, 2002 application deadline for EPCA Compliance Certification approaches, Advanced Energy is traveling the globe to help motor manufacturers understand and complete the application process. With an intimate understanding of EPAC regulations, and as the operator and manager of the first and only independent NVLAP-accredited lab in North America, Advanced Energy has the tools and the talent to assist motor manufacturers with compliance before time runs out.

In early February, the DOE reported the issuance of 30 compliance certifications to motor manufacturers. Of the 30 compliance certificates issued so far, Advanced Energy has provided consulting and testing services to 24 of them. Advanced Energy is working with motor manufacturers in 12 countries on four continents including Europe, South America, North America, and Asia.

photoIn addition to mapping out the compliance certification process for companies and assisting with each phase, Advanced Energy is also helping companies achieve NVLAP accreditation for their own labs. Clients with NVLAP-accredited labs are able to complete the necessary testing in-house, improve understanding of their product performance, ultimately providing them with a greater capacity to make cost-effective manufacturing changes and/or design improvements in the future.

Advanced Energy has already helped TECO , one of the top ten motor producers in the world, complete the EPCA compliance certification process, and achieve both NVLAP accreditation for two test labs, one in Taiwan and one in Malaysia. TECO is the second company in the world to achieve a Compliance Certification number, which clears their motors for sale in the United States. Advanced Energy skillfully guided TECO through both the required lab accreditation procedures and the entirety of the EPAC application process.
