NC GreenPower announces two new board membersDr. William H. Schlesinger and Julie Woosley are the newest members of NC GreenPower's Board of Directors. Dr. Schlesinger and Ms. Woosley are replacing outgoing members Richard Harkrader and Cynthia Prince, whose 3-year terms recently ended. The two new members will fill Consumer/Environmental Interests seats on the Board. Dr. Schlesinger is Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University. He contributed to the establishment of the 2004 Leadership Forum on Creating a Sustainable Energy Future at Duke University, which collaboratively brings CEOs, environmentalists, academics, and government regulators together. With 30 years of experience in the environmental field, he will bring lasting contributions to the Board. Julie Woosley is currently the Director of SmartCommute@RTP, a transportation management association in Research Triangle Park (RTP). SmartCommute@RTP focuses on reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and maintaining quality of life in the triangle area. Ms. Woosley brings 10 years of environmental field experience to the Board. She previously worked with the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources in water quality, air quality, and pollution prevention. NC GreenPower is a non-profit program that encourages the use of renewable energy sources to efficiently improve the state's power supply. The program is the first statewide, multi-utility green energy program in the nation. All of NC GreenPower's renewable energy is produced in North Carolina, in hopes of making the state a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations. NC GreenPower is a subsidiary of Advanced Energy, a Raleigh-based nonprofit corporation that enables utility customers to improve returns on energy investments. The corporation focuses on industrial process technologies, motors and drives testing, and applied building science. Advanced Energy is responsible for meeting energy needs while reducing harmful environmental threats caused by energy use.
