Advanced Energy helps North Carolina plant save $500,000 RALEIGH, N.C. (January 15, 2009)—Advanced Energy, a resource for innovative and market-based approaches to energy issues, was recognized as a 2008 Duke Energy Power Partner Award for its work with the Louisiana Pacific Corp. (LP) to implement strategic energy saving solutions. Throughout the past four years, Advanced Energy worked with LP to convert traditional drying ovens at its Roaring River, N.C., plant to new infrared heating technology, helping the company achieve more than $500,000 in annual energy savings. The Roaring River plant manufactures exterior siding products and produces around 250 million square feet of product each year. Also a 2005 Power Partner winner, LP sought the process-heating expertise of Advanced Energy for help designing and implementing a new process line to double production. As a result of this partnership, the plant has decreased the operations schedule to five days a week and cut turnaround time in half. “Because of the success with this project, Advanced Energy is now looking for opportunities to help other companies improve their bottom line through energy-efficient technology,” said Mark Gentry, business development manager for Advanced Energy. This is Advanced Energy’s fourth Power Partner Award. The company has won the award every year since 2005. The Duke Energy Power Partner Award was created to recognize the commercial and industrial customers as well as community-oriented organizations committed to excellent business practices, greater energy efficiency and community development.
