Industrial Process Heating

Ultraviolet (UV) Curing

In the ultraviolet (UV) curing process, special chemicals (photoinitiators) are added to coatings, adhesives and inks. When these chemicals react with certain wavelengths of UV light, molecular linking occurs, creating a durable finish, superior adhesion and better-quality products.

Industrial Applications

  • Curing headlight and taillights lenses, as well as reflectors
  • Applying stains, dyes, and scratch resistant coatings
  • Curing magnetic media
  • Used in many printing applications, such as aluminum cans, business cards, etc.

Industrial Benefits

  • Instantaneous results
  • Reliable
  • Space saving; UV units are highly effective, yet require only a small space
  • Environmentally friendly; solvent-free
  • Cost effective; simple implementation with little maintenance
  • Low energy
  • High utilization rate (no solvent carrier to evaporate)
  • Cost competitive

Advanced Energy's Services

UV curing is a proven technology that is effective, reliable, cost effective, and environmentally friendly. As a nonprofit, independent organization, Advanced Energy can evaluate, test and recommend unbiased solutions to help you meet your objectives.

  • If you are already using UV curing, we can review your process and equipment to ensure optimal production quality, product quality and environmental compliance.
  • If you have made the decision to use UV, we can evaluate your implementation plan and validate your approach — our specialists can also assist you with vendor contact information, establishing the bid process and any other start-up issues.
  • If you are considering UV curing for an industrial application, we can work with you as a trusted resource throughout the process (from evaluation through implementation). We can even provide you with economic and return-on-investment information to help you justify the purchase.

Did you know…

That UV coatings often cost less per coated part than other liquid coatings. The UV coating is more expensive per gallon, but because there is no solvent, a gallon may cover much more area.
