Repair Shop Selection
Quality is important in any process, and especially in motor repair. If you are buying motor repair you should have a specification that your motor repair vendor can meet. If you are selling motor repair, you should have a documented quality process to meet the increasing energy demands of your customers.
Advanced Energy offers a quality assurance program for motor repair called Proven Efficiency Verification (PEV) that mutually benefits motor repair purchasers and providers.
In the first year, PEV includes a thorough onsite evaluation of the motor service center's ability to maintain efficiency during the repair process. Once completed, before and after repair testing is conducted to validate the motor service center's capabilities.
Current PEV certified motor service centers include:
- Jay Electric Company — Jay Electric Company of Birmingham, AL. is the most recent company to achieve Proven Efficiency Verification accreditation for motor repair. "Advanced Energy's Proven Efficiency Verification program is an important achievement not only for our company, but our customers as well," says Bret Lehr, President of Jay Electric Company. "By achieving this status, we're taking our dedication to customer service and product excellence one step further. Our customers can be confident that their motors being repaired or rewound by our company are of the highest quality while meeting efficiency levels."
- Shermco
Industries, Inc. — Irving, Texas. Has held a valid certificate since 2002. "Realizing the value to our customers of an independent, third-party evaluating our operation," said Scott Meador, vice president of Shermco Industries, "repair processes were modified to meet the PEV certification. Now, when our PEV credentials are presented to the customer, he doesn't second guess his decision regarding repair shop selection. We have found that the smart customer is not driven by the cheapest price, but by the most reliable repair. And the PEV certification provides that comfort level."
- Hupp
Electric Motors, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Has held a valid certificate since 2000.
“We were the first motor service center in
the country to get the PEV credentials from Advanced Energy
and it has continually paid dividends," said Chuck Rutledge,
vice president of Hupp Electric Motors. "Companies that
understand the importance of quality motor repair to their
bottom line realize they can work with us and improve their
process reliability while decreasing their operating expenses.
It makes good business sense for them and for us."
- American Electric Motors, Memphis, TN. Has held a valid certificate since 2008.
“A few years ago I
decided that American Electric Motors would take another step to
be a super high quality motor repair facility. We have
accomplished this by aligning with Advanced Energy. Our
customers wanted high quality and we are able to give it to them;
also new prospects are glad we are in this position,” said Doug Massey,
president of AEM.
- Industrial Motor Services (EECO), Richmond, VA. "Our responsibility to our customers is to ensure we provide both a reliable repair and one that maintains efficiency levels," says Jeff Knight, vice president, EECO. "Achieving the Advanced Energy PEV certification demonstrates our commitment to quality and our desire to partner with the most credible energy consultancy in the industry."
- Industrial Electric Motor Works, Inc. has specialized in electric motor repair, field service, trouble shooting, and new equipment sales and provides 24-hour emergency service to all customers in the mid-south region of the U.S. “Advanced Energy’s PEV program is a very valuable asset to our company,” says Tony McDaniel, president, Industrial Electric Motor Works, Inc. “By achieving this status, our customers can now be assured their motors being repaired or rewound by our facility will be of the highest quality while meeting efficiency levels.”
- Tennessee Armature and Electric, Knoxville, Tenn. As a member of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA), Tennessee Armature and Electric received their PEV accreditation in December of 2010. "Solution to the cause of the failure and the ability to provide a quality repair is our goal," says Ron Collins, president, Tennessee Armature and Electric. "The PEV accreditation further demonstrates our commitment to our customer that we are very interested in their success as well as our own. The ability to restore motors to their manufactured efficiency level is essential to being the quality shop that we are. Our association with Advanced Energy and the PEV program has helped improve our processes and elevate Tennessee Armature to a higher standard."
