You may have received a post card from Advanced Energy recently reminding you of an important Federal Regulation. The information contained in the post card may be very important to you. The deadline to comply with the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 is December 19, 2010. Do you have a plan? Both original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) and motor manufacturers must comply with this new law. Now NEMA Premium® efficient electric motors are required in more applications and EPAct energy-efficient level motors are required for more motor types, speeds and ratings. Advanced Energy can ensure that you comply with the law and exceed customer expectations through validation and proper application. Our Motors and Drives Team improves motors and increases profitability for organizations worldwide. You can read more about this topic in a recent InTech article written by Kitt Butler of Advanced Energy.
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) adds Proven Efficiency Verification motor shop to their Preferred Partner Network
Quality is important in any process, especially in motor repair. Advanced Energy offers Proven Efficiency Verification (PEV), a quality assurance program for motor repair that benefits motor repair purchasers and providers. American Electric Motors in Memphis, Tennessee, has been an active member in the PEV program since early 2008. They have been recognized by TVA for their quality work. TVA promotes vendors of excellence through their Preferred Partner Network (PPN). PPN is a master list of trade allies qualified to deliver high quality energy- efficiency results. More about PPN can be found here. For motor sales and service needs consider American Electric Motors. As other motor service centers obtain PEV certification from Advanced Energy in the TVA service territory, they will be added to this valuable network.

Energy conservation standards for small motors
(Notice of proposed rulemaking public meeting) – The Department of Energy (DOE) will hold a public meeting on Thursday December 17, 2009, regarding proposed efficiency standards for “small motors”. Advanced Energy will be in attendance to continue our efforts in this important process. These proposed regulations cover single- phase Capacitor Start Induction Run (CSIR), Capacitor Start Capacitor Run (CSCR) and three-phase motors between ¼ HP and 3 HP for 2, 4 and 6 pole, general purpose motors in 42, 48 and 56 NEMA frames. IEC equivalents are also covered by the proposed regulations. This proposed rule is a result of years of analysis utilizing inputs from many sources including Advanced Energy’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) motor and drive test facility. All notices from DOE updating interested parties on the public rule making process can be found here.
