Efficiency Compliance Services

Regulations governing motor efficiency, as mandated by EPAct 1992, have been issued from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). On December 19, 2010 efficiency levels for certain motors rise again and for the first time new classes of motors are covered under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007. Small motor efficiency is also under review at the DOE and is expected to be regulated for the first time with an effective due date in January 2011. Advanced Energy understands all of these requirements and offers NVLAP-accredited testing services with expert consulting resulting in compliance.

These regulations impact:

  • Motor manufacturers
  • Motor distributors
  • OEMs that employ motors in their equipment

Advanced Energy specialists have the experience and the qualifications to deliver:

Case Study

An Asian motor manufacturer recently called upon Advanced Energy to assist them in their test lab accreditation. Advanced Energy helped the company refine their testing procedures, evaluate testing equipment, and write a motor lab procedures manual. In preparation for the NVLAP audit, the company also had motors tested in the Advanced Energy lab to verify the accuracy of its own measurements. The result — zero discrepancies on the initial audit. This manufacturer can now provide accredited test data for EPACT certification of motors sold under its own brand as well as for motors it builds for other brand labelers.
