Emmanuel Agamloh, Ph.D. Motor Systems Engineer Dr. Agamloh joined Advanced Energy in December 2005 and is currently involved in motor systems consulting, research and test development on a wide range of applications to meet the needs of Advanced Energy’s customers. While a graduate research assistant in the Motor Systems Resource Facility (MSRF) in Oregon State University (OSU), Dr. Agamloh worked four years primarily on induction motors and energy systems research. He also performed several standard and non-standard tests on motors, controllers and drives in the MSRF for the laboratory s industrial clients. He previously worked for more than five years with the Volta River Authority (VRA), a large electric utility that generates and supplies electricity to three countries in West Africa. He was an electrical design engineer with responsibilities that include high voltage substations and other power transmission facilities. As a design engineer, Agamloh also represented VRA to test power transformers, switchgear and instrument transformers in Europe. In these projects he worked with major companies such as ABB and Alstom. His expertise in this field includes experience working with other companies such as Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority, Electricity Corporation of Ghana and Marles Computers. Dr. Agamloh received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from St. Petersburg State Technical University with a major in electric machines, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Oregon State University (OSU). His work at OSU included the development of a novel direct-drive technique and a contact-less force transmission system for extracting electrical energy from ocean waves. His background and interests also include motor efficiency, power electronics, modeling and simulation techniques, application of finite element analysis in design, analysis and optimization of electromechanical equipment and computational fluid dynamics. Dr. Agamloh is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a former member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), UK (1995-2002) and a past executive secretary of the Society of VRA Engineers (1998-2001). He was a member of the exhibition planning committee for the 4th International Conference on Power System Operation and Planning (ICPSOP 2000) held in Accra, Ghana.
