Prius Conversions Plug-in technology provides even more fuel economy improvements and emissions reductions than a conventional hybrid electrical vehicle. The addition of a larger battery pack, a charger and sophisticated controller allows a plug-in Prius to achieve more than 100 miles per gallon for commuter-style driving. This results in substantial emissions reductions as well. Advanced Energy is currently testing this technology with several goals in mind:
