Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Luke Henry as a Utility Distribution Interconnection Commissioning Technologist. Luke grew up in Pittsboro, North Carolina, and attended Appalachian State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental economics and policy and a master’s degree in appropriate technology.
Luke has been interested in the environmental field for a long time, and a focus on solar technology developed during his time in graduate school. He joins Advanced Energy most recently from Carolina Solar Services. As a senior solar maintenance technician, he helped perform operations and maintenance and lead inspections of utility-scale solar facilities.
Luke was drawn to Advanced Energy for the opportunity to increase his knowledge and further his skills. In his new role, he will spend a large portion of his time in the field, contributing to Advanced Energy’s Solar Interconnection Commissioning Program to ensure that independent power producer facilities that are interconnected to the utility grid comply with necessary documentation, codes and standards. He will be helping to inspect and troubleshoot photovoltaic systems and write reports detailing the findings.
Outside of work, you’ll often find Luke rock climbing, brewing beer or making soap. He is also a small-time gardener.
With Luke’s experience in renewable energy and engineering, he will be able to make an immediate impact on Advanced Energy’s work. He is excited to learn from and contribute to the solar team, and they are likewise excited to have him on board.
