Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Gerri Harris as an administrative assistant and receptionist. Gerri was born in North Carolina and lived in Philadelphia and Atlanta before returning to the Raleigh area to settle down. She comes to Advanced Energy with a wealth of experience in administrative support.
Gerri initially became interested in the field after taking courses in high school, and she later spent over a decade in an administrative role at IBM. She particularly enjoys how varied the work is and being able to interact with people and contribute to a number of tasks. This flexibility keeps day-to-day responsibilities fresh and appropriately challenging.
Gerri recently returned to the workforce after realizing she wasn’t ready to retire, and although she was unfamiliar with Advanced Energy when she came across the job listing, it has turned out to be a great fit. She first joined in May as a temporary employee and recently accepted a permanent position. What motivated her to stay were the people and atmosphere of the organization.
As an administrative assistant, Gerri offers support throughout the company in a variety of capacities. She is also Advanced Energy’s primary receptionist, greeting and directing visitors as they stop by the office.
When she is not at work, Gerri enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, baking and participating in activities through her church. She was also a full-time foster parent for 23 years and continues to provide respite care, lending her time on weekends and when a child’s primary family is out of town.
With Gerri’s versatility and professional experience, she has quickly become an essential member of the administrative team, and she is excited to continue to support Advanced Energy’s projects and other employees.
