Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Ryan Collins as a field technologist. Ryan was born in New York but grew up in Raleigh. He went on to attend Appalachian State University, where he earned a degree in sustainable technology with a focus in photovoltaics.
Ryan entered App State thinking he would study finance and accounting, but a course on the economics of natural resources piqued his interest, and he realized that sustainability better aligned with his values. After graduating, he worked as both a solar installer and technician, gaining experience in residential, commercial and utility-scale applications.
When the Advanced Energy field technologist position opened up, it seemed like a good match. Ryan was already familiar with the organization from living in the area, and he liked that he would be able to support and learn about sustainability initiatives across a range of sectors.
In his new role, Ryan will be dedicating most of his time to SystemVision, one of Advanced Energy’s affordable housing programs. SystemVision uses practical solutions and simplified processes to aid developers and builders in designing, constructing and marketing affordable, energy-efficient homes. He will also have an opportunity to assist with other building-related projects.
When he isn’t working, Ryan enjoys playing basketball, hiking and reading. He most recently finished “The Hobbit.”
Advanced Energy is glad to have Ryan on board, and he is looking forward to adding his knowledge and experience to the team’s efforts.
