Advanced Energy Welcomes Kameron Winesett as a Motors and Drives Co-op

Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Kameron Winesett as a new motors and drives co-op through NC State University’s Cooperative Education Program. Kameron is from Mount Airy, North Carolina, right on the Virginia border. He is currently a junior at NC State, where he is majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in math. He plans to graduate in May 2023.

Kameron first became interested in engineering while doing career projects in middle school. He initially thought about becoming an aerospace engineer but shifted focus after taking classes at his early college high school, which exposed him to other possible paths. Moving forward, he hopes to pursue a career in the nuclear power industry.

Kameron joined Advanced Energy and the motor lab a couple of weeks ago and has been quickly learning the ropes. In his new role, he is helping to handle, test and log motors. Overall, he will do two rotations in the lab, gaining independence and additional responsibilities along the way.

In his spare time, Kameron enjoys playing video games and reading. He is particularly fond of works of fiction, with two of his favorites being “American Gods” and “Grendel.”

The co-op program is a win-win for all involved: Kameron gains hands-on experience he can use down the road, and the motors and drives team gets to mentor future engineers and continue to grow its work.
