Helpful Hint: Equipment Efficiencies

Double check the efficiencies of your water heater, heat pump and furnace before they are installed. Ask your plumber and HVAC contractor for the model numbers of the units they are planning to install and check them in the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) directory.  This will ensure last minute equipment change outs will not affect the move-in date for families.

Water Heater Efficiency

SystemVision standards:

Water Heaters: 0.93 EF
Heat Pumps: 14 SEER, 8.2 HSPF
Furnace/AC: 90% Efficient/13 SEER

 AHRI Directory: http://www.ahridirectory.org/

When entering the model numbers, only enter the first five or six letters/numbers and then scroll through the directory to find the appropriate model.

Scott Spivak Says,

Thanks for info. Water heater standard appears to be for electric water heater. Does System Vision have efficiency standard for gas water heater?

Yes. The program standard for gas water heaters is that they must be at least 0.61 EF.

Herman Says,

You can ask the contractor for specs of unit and to provide printout from AHRI if you cannot find it.
