Advanced Energy Welcomes Rick Berger as an Energy Consultant

Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Rick Berger as an energy consultant. Rick grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before moving to Chicago, Illinois. He then headed to New York to attend Brooklyn College, where he earned a degree in environmental studies. He followed that up with a master’s in alternative energy technology from Arizona State University. Rick is a Certified Practitioner of Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS), a Superior Energy Performance Performance Verifier (SEP PV) and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

Rick initially considered pursuing music as a career but changed course to find a better long-term opportunity. Having always been interested in nature and figuring out how things worked, he decided to focus on climate change and energy. He most recently served as an energy and environmental specialist at PHI Consulting in Detroit, Michigan. His primary responsibility was to help clients create energy management systems to meet ISO 50001 and Superior Energy Performance 50001 standards.

Seeing Rick’s experience in strategic energy management (SEM), Advanced Energy contacted him about his potential interest in an opening at the company. After doing some research, Rick thought it would be a nice match, allowing him to continue his efforts in SEM while exploring other energy-related areas.

So far in his role as an energy consultant, Rick is supporting Advanced Energy’s large business and industry team on ISO 50001-related projects, and he will help lead energy assessments and 50001 Ready cohorts.

Outside of work, Rick enjoys playing music, spending time with his wife and dog (Yoshi) and keeping up with hockey and baseball.

Rick’s background in energy consulting makes him a great fit for Advanced Energy, and we are excited to have him on board.
