Renewable Energy Certificates

Renewable energy certificates (RECs) are the environmental attributes associated with the generation of 1 MWh of energy from a renewable resource. RECs are used to offset electricity usage from traditional resources such as fossil fuels. All of our RECs are sourced locally from North Carolina.

Carbon Offsets

Carbon offsets are created by projects that mitigate one metric ton of carbon dioxide or carbon dioxide equivalents (greenhouse gas emissions). Types of carbon offsets include methane collection and combustion from landfills, farm animals, and other industrial or forestry projects. All carbon offsets must meet our quality criteria to ensure projects are making a positive difference.
