Advanced Energy Welcomes Abdullah Shahzad as an Energy Consultant
Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Abdullah Shahzad as an energy consultant. Abdullah grew up in Lahore, Pakistan, and went on to attend Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where he studied electrical engineering. He then moved to the U.S. to earn his master’s degree in electrical engineering from NC State University.

Abdullah joins Advanced Energy with a range of experience in the energy sector. For example, at LUMS, he assessed the feasibility and potential impacts of converting Lahore’s transit system to run on electricity. Later, with Power Technology Research, he served in a business development role, focused on the areas of e-mobility, clean energy and renewables. He also worked as a solutions engineer co-op for Linxon, where he supported substation and battery storage projects by interpreting and reviewing equipment specifications and design documentation.
In his new position with our power systems team, Abdullah will be verifying inverter-based resources (IBRs) connected to the transmission grid. This service is essential for grid reliability, determining whether solar and battery storage facilities comply with necessary codes and standards — and ultimately whether they’ll perform as expected. Any issues we find are fixed before the sites are approved for commercial operation.
When he isn’t working, Abdullah enjoys playing cricket (his team recently won a league championship), badminton and table tennis.
