Services
Decarbonization Services
We provide a practical suite of services that assist you with the planning and implementation of corporate decarbonization and sustainability initiatives. Our services include renewables planning, EV infrastructure planning, ISO 50001 consulting, and renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets.
Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Consulting
SEM reduces your energy intensity by putting in place continual improvement processes to lower your energy consumed per square foot or per unit of production. All forms of SEM start with understanding or developing your energy policy. Once the policy is set, the next step is to conduct a thorough energy assessment. Depending on your level of commitment and desire, this assessment can cover your entire facility and put the building blocks in place for SEM, or can be specific to a process or group of processes that is being considered for an upgrade. Click here for more details on our energy assessments.
We consider all types of energy improvement part of an SEM program and view the process as a pyramid, with SEM as the foundation. As you climb the pyramid, energy management improves with new processes and procedures in place for sustained year-over-year savings.

Any building or industrial facility can decide how important energy is to their bottom line and begin working on SEM. Our approach is to meet our clients’ needs using a mix of methods, processes, tools, trainings, consulting and site visits. We offer a variety of energy services to help you get started.
50001 Ready™ Energy Management System

We are one of four national ISO 50001 experts selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to provide step-by-step support to help your company achieve 50001 Ready™. We offer detailed training and assistance with process development and documentation. Click here to learn more.
The 50001 Ready program is an approach for facilities to establish an energy management system and self-attest to the structure of ISO 50001, a voluntary global standard for energy management systems in industrial, commercial and institutional facilities.
We work with businesses and industries to guide them along the energy management path and have found the 50001 Ready Navigator™ online tool to be helpful and thorough in addressing all energy management aspects. This resource aligns the best-practice guidelines outlined by ISO 50001 and allows facilities to self-direct their implementation progress by providing worksheets, templates and team management resources. This program allows businesses to enjoy all the benefits of 50001 without the costs associated with ISO certification. Of course, if that is the goal, ISO 50001 certification is the next logical step, and Superior Energy Performance 50001™ offers opportunities beyond that.

ISO 50001
ISO 50001 is a voluntary global standard for energy management systems in industrial, commercial and institutional facilities. We are a contributing member on the ISO 50001 standard committee, so we understand it well and work to improve it with each new edition. ISO 50001 certification is for facilities that are serious about SEM, as it includes developing thorough continuous improvement processes that are auditable to the standard. We partner with businesses to guide them along the path to certification, starting from wherever they may be on the SEM pyramid all the way through the certification audit.
50001 Ready is a perfect guide for organizations seeking ISO 50001 certification. We use the entire framework found in the Navigator online tool to build your certification program. When a facility is ready, we can provide practice certification audits and be present when the required third-party audit takes place for certification. We do not stop there, either, and will remain your consultant to help your staff meet the ongoing requirements of internal audits. ISO 50001 certification is typically a corporate decision, and when we are engaged, we make sure to complement your energy teams at the facility level.

Superior Energy Performance 50001™
Currently, the top of the energy management pyramid in the United States is the U.S. Department of Energy’s Superior Energy Performance 50001™ (SEP 50001™) program. Established by the DOE as a follow on to ISO 50001 (a prerequisite for certification), SEP 50001 requires an even higher level of energy performance verification.
We stand ready to help you reach the top of the energy mountain with SEP 50001. We are one of the few companies in the Southeast that can help you with SEP 50001 certification from beginning to end. Our senior energy engineer Michael Stowe is part of a select group of individuals nationwide to be recognized as a DOE SEP 50001 Trainer. He is available to lead ISO/SEP 50001 training events for industrial sites or cohorts with access to all DOE ISO/SEP 50001 presentations and instruction materials.
Trainings and Workshops
We want your staff to have the skills needed to promote energy efficiency. We have developed hundreds of customized trainings and workshops that promote technical expertise and know-how in energy efficiency and energy management. We offer these trainings virtually and in person. Some of our popular topics include:
- Energy management basics
- How to perform an energy assessment
- Energy awareness
- Process energy analysis
- Process specific
- 50001 Ready™ / Cohorts
- Beneficial electrification
- Specific facility systems
- HVAC
- Lighting
- Chillers
- Compressed air
- Motors and drives
- Energy and lean manufacturing
We can also provide customized trainings to meet your particular needs.
Energy Manager on Call
An energy manager on call can ensure that your SEM plan is sustainable and successful. Don’t have a full-time energy manager? Let us help! One of our energy efficiency experts will be your single, consistent point of contact, offering long-term personalized guidance and assessing areas of improvement. Time of service can be tailored to meet your needs as you grow in your energy management experience. The longer the service, the more energy management and cost reduction deliverables we can provide.
Energy Assessments
Our energy assessments cover all aspects of the energy usage of commercial and industrial facilities, processes and systems. They typically fall into one of three categories: commercial facilities, industrial facilities and industrial processes.
Every assessment involves evaluating your energy usage and identifying areas for improvement. We provide recommendations that help you become more energy efficient and save money. We also work closely with electric utilities and can provide insight and financial analysis on the possibilities of incentives. If desired, we can conduct a formal ASHRAE Level One or Level Two energy audit.
Measurement and Verification
We offer measurement and verification as part of our energy assessments and upon request. Once we have completed an energy assessment, we can help you qualify and quantify your energy project savings by gathering utility, equipment and building data and assessing your in-house metering. We can analyze your data on a macro scale so you can track performance monthly and compare with previous years, or once a project is completed determine actual savings. We can also analyze any process in detail down to 15-minute intervals for qualification of new processes and energy-saving ideas.
- Develop energy baseline
- Verify energy savings after energy project implementation
- Confirm equipment or system operation
- Confirm equipment or system power requirements
- Confirm equipment or system energy consumption
- Document equipment performance at different loading conditions
- Document alternative system’s performance
Certifications
Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS)
Our CP EnMS certification means we can work with industrial organizations to establish and/or maintain an energy management system that meets the requirements of ISO 50001. We can also work with organizations to integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems.
