Advanced Energy Welcomes Alex McLaurin as an IT Specialist

Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Alex McLaurin as an in-house IT specialist working through The Tek, a managed security service provider. Born and raised in the Triangle region of North Carolina, Alex has always been into technology and grew up tinkering with and working on computers.

However, after initially going to school for IT, he took time to explore other areas, holding roles in finance (in customer relations) and healthcare (as a pharmacy technician). He then decided to return to school for computer science and is currently earning his associate’s degree in network and cybersecurity management from Central Carolina Community College. He expects to graduate in December.

As Advanced Energy’s IT specialist, Alex’s role, broadly, is to help fix things when they break. He also oversees software needs for our internal teams, certain administrative tasks and longer-term corporate IT projects.

When he isn’t working, you’ll likely find Alex playing music (guitar or piano), cooking or spending time outside. He loves venturing out with his dogs and exploring the hiking trails around his home.
