Advanced Energy Welcomes Samantha McKinney as a Project Manager

Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Samantha McKinney as a project manager for our renewables team. Samantha was born in Georgia but grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She went on to attend UNC Charlotte, where she studied systems engineering.

Samantha became interested in engineering through her dad, who is an electrical engineer. She wanted a broader focus, though, where she could use project management to improve processes and operations. Since graduating from UNC Charlotte, she’s held project management positions at a telecom company and Strata Clean Energy. When the Advanced Energy opening came up, Samantha was intrigued and liked the idea of returning to a smaller organization and working for a nonprofit.

In her new role, Samantha will be managing our Previously Uninspected Facilities program, which seeks to inspect North Carolina solar generation facilities that achieved interconnection prior to the establishment of Duke Energy’s Interconnection Commissioning Requirements. She will also be overseeing interconnection commissioning efforts for Dominion Energy.

In her spare time, Samantha likes to make wine; hang out with her French bulldog, George; and travel — Japan and South Korea are high on her list of places to visit.

Samantha will be a great addition to our growing renewables team, and we are excited to have her on board.
