Advanced Energy Welcomes Stephen Lapp as a Project Manager

Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Stephen Lapp as a project manager. Stephen grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in environmental studies with a minor in urban and city planning.

Stephen has always loved the outdoors, but he was specifically introduced to environmental science in high school. As he was exploring colleges, he was drawn to UNC’s focus on environmental policy, which aligned with another one of his interests. After graduating, Stephen worked at the university’s Environmental Finance Center, where he partnered with rural and urban municipalities and councils of government on water and resiliency planning.

Stephen had the opportunity to study abroad in Europe while at UNC, and he concentrated on smart cities and the energy transition. So, when he saw the opening at Advanced Energy, he appreciated the company’s emphasis on the multifaceted benefits of clean energy, including environmental, social and economic impacts.

In his new role, Stephen is supporting our transportation and residential teams. He is assisting the Plug-in NC program as well as projects centered on electric vehicle-readiness, vehicle-to-grid technology and Duke Energy’s Smart $aver initiative.

When he isn’t working, Stephen enjoys playing soccer, hiking around the Triangle, rock climbing and reading.

Stephen’s background and prior experience make him a great fit for Advanced Energy. He is excited to develop and learn with the project management team, and we are excited to have him contribute his knowledge and skills.
