Advanced Energy Welcomes Taylor Hill as an Engineer
Advanced Energy is excited to welcome Taylor Hill as an engineer. Taylor was born and raised in the Raleigh area and attended NC State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on renewable energy electric systems as well as a master’s degree in electrical power systems engineering. He is also a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina.

From a young age, Taylor loved getting his hands on experiment kits and performing magic tricks. He later realized that science is its own form of magic and entered NC State wanting to study computer engineering, knowing the essential role computers play in our lives. However, electrical engineering ended up being a better fit and more directly tied in Taylor’s interest in sustainability and the environment.
While pursuing his degree, Taylor had the opportunity to intern at a combined cycle power plant in Florida and then at GE, where he worked on wind farm technology and inverters. Upon graduating, he moved to Kansas City for a role with engineering and construction firm Burns & McDonnell. His focus here was on substation design engineering and transmission planning.
After a few years, Taylor moved back to North Carolina and recognized that his ideal job incorporated field work with a social impact. He came across the opening at Advanced Energy, and it seemed like a great match. In his new position, Taylor is supporting our renewables team with solar facility inspections. He and the rest of the group are making sure these sites are installed to quality standards, will provide optimal performance, and can be maintained for safe and reliable operation. When he isn’t at a site, Taylor is getting up to speed on the research and code requirements for how to design a successful solar farm.
Outside of work, Taylor keeps busy with several hobbies. He enjoys both disc and traditional golf; rollerblading, skateboarding and snowboarding; and, when he wants a lower-key night indoors, board games.
Taylor’s enthusiasm and prior experience align well with our goals at Advanced Energy, and we are excited to have him on board contributing his knowledge and expertise.
