Brian Coble Named Next President of Advanced Energy

Advanced Energy is pleased to announce Brian Coble as its new — and fourth ever — president and executive director. The organization’s board of directors selected Brian to succeed Bob Goodson, who retired in October 2024. Brian will also act as president of NC GreenPower, Advanced Energy’s subsidiary.

Brian has been a dedicated member of Advanced Energy for more than two decades and has held executive positions since 2013. He started out supporting affordable housing initiatives, expanded into management and most recently served as chief operating officer.

During his time at Advanced Energy, Brian has worked closely with electric utilities, government agencies, industry leaders and the environmental community to positively impact North Carolina. His efforts broadly have focused on helping all customer classes in the state save energy and fostering economic development opportunities for businesses. He’s also sat on boards of directors for other organizations, including the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina and Joules Accelerator. With his extensive experience and years developing key partnerships, Brian is well suited to sustain and grow Advanced Energy’s position in the market while navigating the unique — and exciting — challenges of the energy industry.

“Brian’s experience and 23 years of dedication to Advanced Energy make him the ideal choice to lead our organization forward. We are confident that under his leadership, Advanced Energy will continue to thrive and make significant strides in the energy sector,” said Bob Powell, chair of Advanced Energy’s board of directors.

“I am honored to be chosen by the board of directors as Advanced Energy’s next president and executive director,” Brian said. “I look forward to working with our staff to grow the organization’s impact into the future.”
