Advanced Energy Sponsors and Attends 2018 State Energy Conference
Advanced Energy is proud to sponsor and attend the 2018 State Energy Conference of North Carolina. The State Energy Conference is an event that Advanced Energy looks forward to every year. Over two days, it brings together local professionals from across the energy industry to network, learn about new ideas and technologies, and discuss the future of energy in North Carolina.
This year, Mike Stowe, senior energy engineer, will be participating on a panel about ways wastewater facilities are improving their energy use and pursuing clean energy opportunities. Drinking water and wastewater systems consume approximately 3-4 percent of the energy used in the U.S. Therefore, finding strategies to enhance energy consumption could have a big impact on the environment and costs.
Mike will specifically be focusing on local energy assessments that he and others at Advanced Energy have conducted at several wastewater treatment plants. Mike will describe the various components of these assessments, from the initial approaches to the methods, analysis tools and eventual findings. Mike will also present an overview of Advanced Energy’s involvement in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Superior Energy Performance® Water and Wastewater Pilot Project. In this effort, Advanced Energy participated as an instructor and internal readiness auditor for seven large facilities throughout the country.
In a separate role, Advanced Energy had the opportunity to work with David Doctor of E4 Carolinas and Autumn Proudlove of the N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center to develop the conference’s Utilities and Infrastructure track. This track will highlight changing technologies and policies that are likely to have significant impacts on North Carolina’s energy future. It will feature leaders from various players in the energy arena representing both the private and public sectors.
The State Energy Conference will be held on Tuesday, April 17, and Wednesday, 18. You can follow the Utilities and Infrastructure track throughout the event and hear Mike’s session, Session C4, on April 18 from 10:30 a.m. until noon. We will also have a booth setup during both days of the conference, so stop by and say hi at booth #34!
