Advanced Energy’s EASA Allied Membership

The Electrical Apparatus Service Association Inc. (EASA) is the leading international trade organization in electrical and mechanical equipment sales, service and repairs for motors, pumps, generators, drives and more. Each year, EASA’s international convention brings together service centers with motor and drive manufacturers, motor distributors and importers, original equipment manufacturers and suppliers to the motor repair industry. The convention provides technical and managerial tracks with valuable presentations and opportunities to learn and improve.

“We look forward to EASA international every year. It’s the one time of year when we can see many of our industry partners and clients in one place while learning and having fun. We leave each year rejuvenated with the EASAn spirit and ready to take on new challenges.” — Kitt Butler, director of business development for Advanced Energy’s motors and drives division

As an allied member, we enjoy a close partnership with EASA and its members. Our motors and drives team has participated in technical committees and been a consistent presence at EASA’s international and regional conferences, shows and meetings. Furthermore, we have hosted tours of our motors and drives lab for EASA’s Southeastern chapter and have commented on the ANSI/EASA AR 100 motor repair standards.

In 2014, we became one of the original third-party auditors sanctioned for the EASA Accreditation Program. This program evaluates motor service centers to ensure they are using prescribed industry best practices (based on ANSI/EASA AR 100) to maintain motor efficiency and reliability during repairs. Auditors perform an on-site assessment in the first year of the program, and then internal assessments with auditor oversight are conducted the following two years. To maintain accreditation, the process starts over in the fourth year with a second on-site visit by the auditor.

EASA’s Accreditation Program complements our own Proven Efficiency Verification (PEV) program, a third-party quality assurance initiative. Through an on-site assessment and testing motors for efficiency before and after they are repaired in our lab, the PEV program certifies that a repair center has what it takes to repair AC induction machines for the industrial and commercial industries.

In 2019, our motor lab coordinator, Ronnie Alford, was invited to join EASA’s Technical Services Committee. The 14-person team provides membership with technical resources, materials and information; enhances EASA’s technological image in the industry; and revises test standards.

With our long history in the field and 25-year relationship with EASA, we have been able to develop strong partnerships with a number of industry-leading EASA members. Motor and drive manufacturers that employ our lab for testing have referred service centers, and we have returned the favor, by promoting and referring customers to various service centers. This represents just one way EASA brings together members to continue to grow and improve the industry.
