SystemVision COVID-19 Updates

For the past 20 years, Advanced Energy has been proud to manage the SystemVision program. With nearly 6,000 homes certified, we are grateful to all of our affiliates, builders, raters, tradespeople and invested partners. Without you there truly would not be a SystemVision program.

The safety and wellness of all parties involved with SystemVision is our highest priority. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made what we feel are necessary changes to our inspection process to ensure the safety of our partners in the field. Effective April 1, 2020, we will allow and encourage all field inspections to take place using our remote inspection protocols.

A rater will now be able to remotely direct a builder representative to perform a site visit, while maintaining social distancing best practices at each stage of construction (framing, insulation and final). Performance testing requirements will be postponed temporarily until Advanced Energy feels confident that such work can be performed safely. Any home that passes the final inspection phase of construction will receive a SystemVision certification with the energy and comfort guarantee effective upon closing.

We recognize that performance testing may be more difficult in occupied homes, and any re-work that may become necessary after entering a home after closing presents other challenges, but we will attempt to be adaptive to less than ideal circumstances. Allowing new homeowners to occupy their home as soon as possible is a priority and we want to make every reasonable accommodation to ensure timely closing.

To support the adoption of these measures, we’ve created a framework of safe inspection practices and minimum documentation requirements as well as a short video describing a successful virtual inspection. We will continue to create supporting content to foster familiarity and success for everyone involved.
