Advanced Energy Welcomes Charlie Phillips as a Quality Manager
Advanced Energy is happy to welcome Charlie Phillips as a quality manager for the motor lab. Charlie previously spent three rotations as an engineering co-op with the motors and drives team through NC State University’s Cooperative Education Program, and he’s excited to be joining as a full-time employee.
A native of Charlotte, Charlie has been interested in sustainability — and sustainable cars in particular — since middle school. These interests, along with his enjoyment of math and science, guided him toward mechanical engineering, which he studied at NC State. He graduated in May, and the timing aligned perfectly with Advanced Energy’s needs.
Charlie will play a vital role in Advanced Energy’s nationally recognized Certification Body program. He will also be in charge of the Motor Lab Operating Procedure, the primary document in the lab’s quality management system, by making sure standards stay up to date. In addition to his quality manager responsibilities, Charlie will continue to expand his knowledge of motor reporting procedures and specialized testing.
Outside of work, Charlie participates on NC State’s SolarPack team, which strives to break barriers in the sustainable vehicle industry by designing and developing a solar-powered electric car. Charlie is a member of the structures team and is helping to get SolarPack’s vehicle ready for a race this summer. After the race, he will transition to more of a consulting role among the team’s alumni.
Charlie is enthusiastic about his return to Advanced Energy. He is already familiar and comfortable with the people, projects and work environment and is eager to pick up where he left off.
